Anticipation!

As Summer begins to wind down, I look forward to a few things.  The cool crisp air of Fall in the Northeast. The changing colors of the leaves.  The kids back in school.

Fall releases for my favorite authors.

Of those that are schedule for the rest of the year, there are few I've look forward to with the excitement I've had for Cassandra Clare's The Clockwork Angel.  The story, the first in The Infernal Devices triology, is a prequel to her Mortal Instruements series.  Shadowhunters and steampunk...what an exciting combination.

From Amazon:

Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to ind her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatral folk stalk gaslit streets.  Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that  she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person.  What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them.  She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa.  As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

The book releases this Tuesday.  On Wednesday, I will be attending Cassie's signing in Exton, PA to purchase my book and meet the author for a second time.  I cannot wait to read this book.  I love her Mortal Instrument series, and since we have to wait until the Spring for book four of the Mortal Instruments, City of Fallen Angels, I might have to stretch out reading this book so I can get my fill of Shadowhunters.  So it might take me two days as opposed to the usual one!  *grins*

So what book are you most looking forward to being released?

I'm looking forward to Side Jobs, by Jim Butcher. It's all his Harry Dresden short stories in one place. Some of them I haven't had a chance to read, plus I'm pretty sure there's one or two new ones. Counterfeit Magic, by Kelley Armstrong, plus the comic which I should get before she's here for a signing. I'm trying to keep from looking up other things, or I'll be reading the wrong stuff during my study time. :P

Oh, Side Jobs. Yes, that is on my list. I've read all the short stories so far, but I can't wait to read Murphy's story in this one. Counterfeit Magic is a given! And there's always break time during studying!

There's nothing that I'm dying to come out (except the next Savannah book!), but I am looking forward to Unseen by Rachel Caine. I've read the Weather Warden series and this is the 3rd book in a spinoff series called Outcast Season. I like the MC's so much better in this series because they're darker/edgier. It should be a good read.

Sounds like a very entertaining read Kelly. I'm not looking foward to anything imparticular since I just picked up 'The Hunger Games', 'Waking the Witch', and 'Painless Writing', so I have a few to read at the moment.
Thanks for the information about that book. I may pick that one up later on.

To be honest, I tend to look forward to a lot of titles, whilst I tend to pick books that pique my interest there are a few that you get that, whilst not sounding great, really do blow you away as a reader.

Rather than the fall, I want the next tale for Harry, (although Side Jobs is set for an April 11 release for us UKers.) Mind you I really want Ghost Story now. (which reminds me, I must send my spy into the publishing house to establish an alibi so that it becomes available earlier. LOL)

I'll have to have a look, and I know that next year, I'll have a better idea on what to expect when so I can give you a better idea.
